Avenida da Liberdade has a history as one of Lisbon’s most eye-catching neighbourhoods, built as a park in the 18th century and converted in the late 19th century into the high-end boulevard that it is today. It was inspired by Paris’ Champs-Élysées and is known for its elegant buildings, luxury stores and hotels. It has a certain elegance, with fountains and café tables shaded by trees, as well as a cobblestone pavement decorated with abstract patterns. However, it’s not all about luxury; there are several kiosks with reasonable prices here too.
